Bosscha Ob Observatory immortalize the parade of four planets like bright stars on Friday morning, April 22, 2022, at 05.00 WIB. On Monday, April 25, 2022, the moons will merge, starting from near Saturn and then changing positions every day each near another planet.
The planets Venus and Jupiter will also gradually approach until the peak occurs in conjunction, May 1, 2022. “The phenomenon (parade) is arguably rare. The more planets there are, the rarer the chance,” said Yatny Yulianti, astronomer and spokesperson for the Bosscha Observatory, Saturday, April 23, 2022.
According to Yatny, such a planetary sequence was last seen in July 2020. At that time, the three observable planets, namely Mercury, Venus, and Mars, appeared in a row with a fairly large distance apart. Meanwhile, in April 2002, the formation of five bright planets visible from Earth, namely Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, Venus, and Mercury.
In April this year, Yatny explained, the best observation time could be from 03.30 until before sunrise. “As long as the sky or the weather is clear,” he said.
Meanwhile, according to an astronomer from the South Sky community in Bandung, Avivah Yamani, it is not every month that planetary phenomena are seen lined up in a straight line. In his notes, apart from 2020, it also appeared in 2016.
“The alignment of the planets is only seen from our perspective as observers on earth,” he added.
After April 25, 2022 onwards, said Avivah, the next two months will see another line of planets from Earth. The appearance of the closest later can be predicted to display a different planet formation. “Mercury, Venus, the moon, Mars, and Jupiter, as far as Saturn, will appear in a straight line on June 24, 2022.”
