Astronomers Spot Millennium Falcon-shaped Comet that Could Soon be Visible from Earth

Astronomers have spotted a comet in the sky that could soon be seen from Earth. How Business Insider reported, the celestial body accidentally caught the eye of researchers as it hurled clouds of debris and ice through space and brightly lit up.

This gave it the shape of a horseshoe, which is why it reminded researchers of the “Millennium Falcon” from the Star Wars film series. In the spring of 2024, the comet could be visible to the naked eye on Earth. This is because a solar eclipse is happening in North America.

The researchers recommend using binoculars to actually spot the comet. Hobby astronomers who own a six-inch telescope don’t have to wait until June. You can only point the telescope at the Dragon constellation in the northern sky to see the celestial body.

“Right now the comet can only be seen with a telescope in a nice, dark place, but by the time of next April’s solar eclipse it will be bright enough to be spotted with binoculars from your backyard,” said one of the researchers Researchers to the news portal.
