Astronomers Spot a Giant Black Hole at the Center of the Milky Way

SERAMBINEWS.COM, WASHINGTON – For astronomer United States of America (USA) sees a giant hole in the center Milkyway Galaxy on Thursday (12/5/2022).

Reported by AP, the first wild but blurry image of the supermassive black hole appears at the center Milkyway Galaxy.

For astronomer believe that almost all galaxies, including Earth’s galaxies have giant black hole in the center.

Where light and matter can’t escape, so it’s very difficult to get the picture.

Light was bent and twisted chaotically by gravity as it was sucked into the abyss along with the extremely hot gas and dust.

The color image released Thursday (12/5/2022) comes from the international consortium behind the Event Horizon Telescope, a collection of eight synchronized radio telescopes around the world.

Previous attempts have found the black hole at the center of our galaxy too agitated to get a good picture.

Feryal Ozel of the University of Arizona said giant black hole gently at the center of our galaxy as it announces a new image.

The Milky Way’s black hole is called Sagittarius A (asterisk), near the border of the constellations Sagittarius and Scorpius.
The area, 4 million times larger than the Sun.

This is not the first black hole image.

The same group released the first in 2019 and comes from a galaxy 53 million light years away.
The Milky Way’s black hole is much closer, about 27,000 light-years away.

One light year is 9.5 trillion kilometers.

The project cost nearly $60 million with $28 million coming from the US National Science Foundation.
