Astronomers solve the mystery of a 60-year-old quasar and how it formed. According to a recent study in a journal entitled ‘Monthly Noticed by the Royal Astronomical Society’, the brightest objects in the universe can form when galaxies collide.

Scientists under the leadership of the Universities of Sheffield and Hertfordshire conducted an analysis of data from the Isaac Newton Telescope in La Palma.

Then the scientists discovered what they described as the ‘presence of distorted structures’ in a galaxy that contains quasars.

A scientist from the Department of Physics and Astronomy from the University of Sheffield, namely Clive Tidehunter, said that this quasar is one of the most extreme phenomena in the Universe.

When galaxies collide, the resulting gas will be pushed towards black hole (black hole). The event released a tremendous amount of energy in the form of radiation. So, it can produce a quasar brilliance that is quite special.

Dr Jonny Pierce who is a postdoctoral research fellow from the University of Hertfordshire said this quasar was one of the objects they wanted to study further. Including by scientists from all corners of the world.

The James Webb Space Telescope can help study the earliest galaxies in the Universe. In addition, the Webb Telescope can also detect the presence of light even from the most distant quasars, which are nearly 13 billion years ago.
