Liputan6.com, Jakarta – In order to astronomer have discovered a rare, tear-shaped star that swirls through the cosmos about 1,500 light-years from the sun.
Quoted from Live Science, Wednesday (14/7/2021), system star HD265435 is one of only three known binary star systems in the universe that are closest to Earth.
However, according to research published on July 12, 2012 in the journal Nature Astronomy, the star will soon experience a supernova.
This type of stellar explosion occurs when a white dwarf — the wrinkled skin of a collapsing star — shares an orbit with a larger and younger star that still has fuel left to burn.
Small but still gravitationally, this white frog will happily devour this fuel, pulling so much material away from its companion that the younger star through it changes shape from a sphere to an ellipse, or teardrop.
Star the older ones continue to grow larger over millions of years and eventually become too large.
Nuclear reactions will reappear in the core and star the dwarf will explode making the two stars into a speck of gas and dust that shines in the night sky.
