A group of researchers from The Belgrade Astronomical Observatory concluded thatThe visible structures created by gravitational interactions in the solar system have created a network of “space superhighways” for travel.
Scientists described their research in detail in an article for publication Science Advances.
According to the researchers, these channels are able to provide fast movement of objects in space and can be used for space exploration by earthlings, as well as for the study of comets and asteroids.
The article says that superhighways consist of a series of interconnected arches inside these invisible structures called space collectors, and each planet collaborates with others to create a “heavenly autobahn”.
Superhighways, as Belgrade scientists assure, can carry objects from Jupiter to Neptune in just a few decades. A group of astronomers led by Natasha Todorovich used a fast Lyapunov indicator in their research, which can be used to detect chaos in the solar system.
“Here we use FLI (indicator – ed.) To detect the presence and global structure of cosmic manifolds, as well as to capture instabilities that operate on orbital time scales; that is, we use this sensitive and well-proven numerical tool to more generally define regions fast transport in the solar system “, – says the scientific article.
During the study, they found that the most prominent arches at heliocentric distances are associated with Jupiter; and most strongly with its Lagrange point manifolds. Several dozen particles were dropped onto the planet and were able to reach Uranus and Neptune in just 38 and 46 years, respectively.
This discovery will help to better understand how comets and asteroids move so quickly through the inner solar system. Moreover, the report of scientists will be useful for future expeditions / missions to explore the solar system.
