Astronomers found “objects no one has ever seen in space before” by examining more than a million images that were compiled to create a comprehensive star atlas; According to “The Independent”. Astronomers used the Visible and Infrared Survey Telescope “Vesta” and collected more than a million images and divided them into a huge mosaic.
The atlas shows 5 stellar nurseries less than 1,500 light-years away – a light-year is 9.7 trillion km – containing young stars in the process of formation. “This will allow us to understand the processes of transformation of gas and dust into stars,” says Stefan Mengast of the University of Vienna, lead author on the study.
