According to the spokesman of the Anglo-Swedish company, contrary to what was made known by Brussels, contacts with the European Union continued in a “collaborative” manner even after the sending of the EU ultimatum.

According to the spokesman on duty of the European Commission, the deadline set by the ultimatum launched by the Commission on 19 March to the Anglo-Swedish company through a letter of formal notice would have passed without any significant news being recorded.

The letter from the EU Commission to AstraZeneca The letter sent from Brussels on 19 March asked the company to respect its contractual commitments with Europe within “a period of 20 days”, a deadline therefore expired on 8 April. The text of the letter lists a long list of elements that led the Community executive “to the conclusion that AstraZeneca has not respected, and continues to respect, its contractual obligations of production and delivery” of the initial 300 million doses for the EU. “We formally ask you and give you notice to remedy the substantial contractual violations within twenty days of this letter”, reads the text.
