AstraZeneca Vaccines: More than two million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine arrive in Colombia | Present

This Sunday a new batch of 2,027,400 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine against COVID-19 arrived in the country, which came through a bilateral agreement with this pharmaceutical company.

According to the Ministry of Health, the new doses will be destined for the first, second and third doses of people over 18 years of age.

It should be noted that with the arrival of these new vaccines, the country completes 56,488,824 doses of vaccines from all laboratories, including vaccines purchased by the private sector, donations from Spain and the United States, which have arrived through the COVAX Mechanism and through bilateral negotiation.

Regarding AstraZeneca vaccines, Colombia has received a total of 11,043,960 doses. Of this, 8,019,960 correspond to bilateral negotiation2,066,400 to the COVAX Mechanism and 957,600 to donations.

For his part, the Deputy Minister of Public Health and Provision of Services, Luis Alexander Moscoso, expressed his concern that there is a significant amount of the population without vaccination, that are within the groups prioritized by the Ministry of Health.

“We must remember that we have more transmitting lineages, like Delta; We have already seen the impact, not so great, but there is already an impact in Antioquia, Antioquia, Norte de Santander (…) This is not the time to relax, it is time to protect ourselves, take care of ourselves; the best option is to get vaccinated”, Recommended the vice minister.
