AstraZeneca Vaccine Arrives: 36,000 Doses Delivered

After so much anticipation, the 36,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines finally arrived in the country, to vaccinate white workers. This shipment is part of the 4,300,000 doses received through the international tool.

The Vice Minister of the Rectory and Health Research, Lidia Mercedes Sosa, declared that the 36,000 doses will be given entirely to the white workers and it is expected that it will reach 90% of those registered and with the shipment should arrive on March 25, It hopes to reach 100% of those registered for vaccination.

Health Minister Julio Borba said that this is the first of several batches that must arrive in the country to fight the pandemic in Paraguay.

“Today we are receiving the first of many batches of vaccines that we will be receiving in the coming months,” he said.

For his part, Dr. Luis Escoto, representative of PAHO, said that vaccines do not mean salvation and that they really appeal to the conscience of citizens.

“We are working hard to introduce the maximum number of vaccines in a short period of time, but citizens’ awareness is essential,” he said.
