The market capitalization of the British pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca has reached £189 billion ($234 billion), making it the largest company whose shares are traded on the London Stock Exchange (LSE). Thanks to good sales of its drugs, the pharmaceutical company outperformed the former leader of the LSE, oil and gas company Shell with a capitalization of $210 billion, as well as its American competitor pharmaceutical giant Pfizer with a capitalization of $227 billion. It is noteworthy that in 2014, Americans wanted buy AstraZeneca for $118 billion, but the British refused Pfizer.
Even despite the decline in revenue from the sale of anti-virus drugs and vaccines since the beginning of the year, AstraZeneca shares have gained 19% in price, largely due to sales of drugs and treatments for lung cancer, leukemia and diabetes.
