It is now planned that AstraZeneca will deliver approximately 670,000 doses to Norway in the second quarter, Knut Jønsrud, section leader for vaccine supply in NIPH, informs warn.
Previously, FHI had expected to receive between one and two million doses of AstraZeneca by July.
– There is a reduction of about 60 percent in the second quarter, if we take into account the most optimistic estimate. The reduction is about one million doses, says Jønsrud.
127,400 doses of this vaccine have so far been distributed in Norway, according to FHI.
– Limited yield in the European production lines
So far, the vaccine has been put on hold in Norway and several other countries due to reports of blood clots as a possible side effect.
Minister of Health Bent Høie (H) informs NTB that the government has received information from AstraZeneca that they will have difficulties in fulfilling their delivery obligations in Europe also in the future.
– This is due to the fact that there are still limited yields in the European production lines at the same time as the company has not succeeded in importing vaccine doses produced elsewhere.
