The pharmaceutical company Astra Zeneca has initiated a worldwide recall of its covid vaccine, several British media reports. The company itself refers to commercial reasons, that the product is no longer in demand in favor of newer vaccines.
At the same time, the European Medicines Agency announced on Tuesday that the company’s covid vaccine, which has been called Vaxzevira since 2021, is no longer authorized for use.
In February, Astra Zeneca admitted that their vaccine could cause serious side effects in rare cases.
In Sweden, the use of this vaccine was paused in 2021, and then completely phased out.
