Aston Villa Player Admits to Playing Poker and Blackjack on Illegal Online Platforms: Prosecutor Investigation Updates

The Aston Villa player, who claims to have only played poker and blackjack, will be heard by prosecutor Pedrotta who coordinates investigations into illegal online platforms

Nicolò Zaniolo arrived shortly after 2.30pm in court in Turin to be heard by prosecutor Manuela Pedrotta who is coordinating the investigation into the betting ring on illegal online platforms. The former Roma player, now at Aston Villa, who entered the Palace of Justice aboard a black van with tinted windows, is the third player registered in the register of suspects by the Turin prosecutor’s office in addition to Sandro Tonali and Nicolò Fagioli.

Unlike the two midfielders, who declared before the magistrates and the federal prosecutor’s office that they had placed bets on football, Zaniolo admitted having used the illicit platforms only to play blackjack and poker, a version which if confirmed will not entail any risk from sporting point of view for the attacker. Two weeks ago the police seized the electronic devices (mobile phones and PCs) from Tonali and Zaniolo while they were on training camp with the national team in Coverciano.
