Chelsea, who entered the Conference League victorious on Thursday, were trailing early in the second half, but Madueke equalized shortly after. The visitors played the final without Ward-Prows, who was sent off, but they saved the point even in a weakened state. The London side extended their competitive unbeaten run to seven and are fourth in the table on points ahead of Aston Villa, four points behind leaders Liverpool.
Tottenham led Brighton by two goals at half-time and looked to be heading for a third straight league win. But the home team scored three goals in 18 minutes after the change of sides, the author of the last one being the 33-year-old striker Welbeck. The three-point win lifted Brighton to sixth place.
