Aston Villa Continues Impressive Home Run with a 4-1 Victory over West Ham: Unai Emery’s Squad Eyes Champions League Zone

Unai Emery’s Aston Villa chained their eleventh home victory in the Premier League, with 31 goals in favor -17 in the four most recent games- and only five against, to remain on the lookout for the Champions League zone, one point, and two from the lead, after beating West Ham by Mexican Edson Álvarez 4-1, who had a ‘mixed’ match.

Álvarez caused a penalty by knocking down Ezri Konsa in the area, but minutes later, he scored an assist for his team’s only goal in the game.

Winner of four of their last five duels in the championship, with a draw between them, they join the cut in the upper zone, along with Tottenham Hotspur, with one game less; Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool.

They are fifth, three points ahead of sixth place, Newcastle, after adding 19 of the 27 points for which they have competed.

Douglas Luiz, with a double in the 30th and 52nd minutes, the second of them a penalty; Ollie Watkins, ’75; and Leon Bailey, in the 89th minute, scored their goals against West Ham, trailing on the scoreboard from the half hour mark until the end.

Between the Brazilian midfielder’s two goals and Watkins’ 3-1, Jarrod Bowen had scored 2-1 in the 57th minute, after a decisive rebound from Pau Torres.
