Aston Martin has announced that its 2024 F1 car, the AMR24, will be unveiled at Silverstone on February 12th. The dates were first announced in an email sent to members of the Aston Martin F1 team’s fan campaign ‘I/AM’. The campaign also calls for participation in a contest to participate in the unveiling.
Aston Martin becomes the fourth team to announce a release date for its 2024 F1 car. Stake F1 teams (Sauber) and Williams will unveil new machines on February 5th, and Ferrari on February 13th. Two-time F1 world champion Fernando Alonso hopes the AMR24 will address his lack of consistency and straight-line speed. “I think we need to find consistency. Maybe one of the weaknesses was that the car had to work within a very narrow window,” Alonso said. “The ground effects cars are particularly sensitive to everyone, but we seem to be struggling a bit. It would be great next year (2024) if we can always perform at a consistent level. “Also, the straight-line speed If we can improve…I think that was our weakness in terms of numerical performance. We were always a bit too slow on the straights. “If you want to go as fast as the other cars, you have to drop the rear wing too much. That makes us slower in the corners, and we haven’t been able to get out of that loop this season.” Alonso praised his tire management and strategic decisions throughout 2023. Aston Martin emerged as a threat to Red Bull in the early races and got off to a very promising start. However, as we approached the middle of the calendar, our results slumped. Aston Martin was hurt by removing its overly flexible front wing, and it is believed that reverse engineering parts for 2024 to run on the AMR23 threw the team off course. Aston Martin F1 Team has extended its partnership with Aramco for a further five years. Aramco becomes the exclusive title partnership and from January 1, 2024, it becomes the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team. Sauber has previously unveiled machines in its home country of Switzerland, Austria and Germany, but this year it will unveil the C44 for the first time in London. This comes as Audi’s official name changes to Stakes F1 Team for the next two seasons, reflecting an interim commercial agreement before Audi enters full Grand Prix in 2026.
