Astesiano’s lawyer does not rule out reaching an agreement with the Prosecutor’s Office

Marcos Prieto, Astesiano’s lawyer, went to see him today in prison. At the end of the meeting and when asked if an agreement could be sought with the prosecution, he stated that “we are handling it, I cannot confirm it now because the prosecution is still working. It is a tool that, as a defender, I propose; This does not mean that my client has confirmed it to me or that we will use it ”.
Regarding the case, he expressed that “whether or not they are advanced, I don’t know for sure because I have not raised the updated investigative file”. “I can tell you that there are big and small things that make up this case that the prosecutor does not have, this is material security. These are things that we are managing, nothing more, I cannot tell you more about how long and how long I do not update the information that is in the investigation file, “Prieto said.
If an agreement were reached, a public and oral trial would be avoided. For these types of agreements, defendants usually give information in exchange to lower the sentence, which can be reduced by up to one third.
