Asteroid destroying dinosaurs creates a powerful tsunami

VIVA – The most dramatic mass extinction in history was when asteroid collided with Earth 66 million years ago which created tsunami devastating and wiped out 75 percent of living species, including all dinosaur non-poultry.

Over the past few years scientists have found more traces of the impact of this disaster giving us greater detail. From dust circling the globe to forest fires up to 1,500 kilometers from the crash site.

In 2019, a team discovered the fossil record hours later including evidence of debris swept away by the tsunami as a result of the crash. Now, researchers have found a huge ripple carved by the tsunami in sediment measuring 1,500 meters below what is now Louisiana, United States (USA).
