Asteroid 4660 Nereus is reportedly getting close to Earth. NASA launched this news and predicts in December this year there will be interesting events.
This gigantic celestial body has recently been approaching Earth, even though it is still at a normal distance. However, some types and those that have earned the nickname have unusually large sizes.
One of them is currently under estimate. December is just a few days away, so the estimation of this celestial object approaching Earth is getting closer.

Asteroid Object 4660 Nereus Approaches Earth December 2021
If you can estimate the size of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, then this asteroid is not much different in size. Isn’t it big enough to be an object that traverses the Earth and is dangerous?
The first discovery of this giant asteroid was precisely in 1982 by an astronomer named Eleanor F. Helin from the United States.
It’s no wonder that until now Space Agency researchers from around the world are trying to build a defense system. This is to reduce the risk of being hit by large objects or objects from outer space in the future.

Information About Asteroid 4660 Nereus
In the categorization of asteroids, this one belongs to the Apollo group. Because of its trajectory on Earth’s path when it orbits the sun.
From the trajectory of its orbit, it will get a total of 664 days of solar orbit. Meanwhile, its orbital eccentricity has been recorded to reach 0.360 with an absolute magnitude of 18.2.
Of the categories contained in this asteroid, it usually has the following formation process. For example, from the primordial solar nebula with planetesimal fractions.
From there a young solar nebula that does not have a large enough size turns into a planet. The process for asteroids in this category is usually not much different from that.

Scientist’s Effort
Because of its gigantic size, scientists are wary and think far ahead. The threat from celestial objects like this is sometimes completely unpredictable.
It is not surprising that they have made various efforts in order to be able to research it further. Even to the launch of a spacecraft that will examine it more closely.
They have always failed until now. However, efforts to find systems and formulas to maintain the security of Earth from foreign objects are still ongoing.
Although this is not the first time this kind of phenomenon has occurred, usually this kind of incident is within safe limits and is always destroyed before it reaches Earth.
Asteroid 4660 Nereus, which is approaching Earth, is expected to arrive on December 11, 2021. The hope is that it will not really have an impact, both small and large, on the life of creatures on Earth. (R10/HR-Online)
