Asteroid 2010 XC15 approaches Earth, rocks 570 feet long

The 2010 asteroid XC15 shocked the public. This was because there was news that an asteroid called 2010 XC15 was moving towards Earth. Not a few are concerned that the asteroid’s motion will end in a collision.

Not long ago NASA revealed startling information about asteroids. Space object 2010 XC15 moved towards Earth on December 27, 2022 yesterday.

Until now, scientists are still monitoring the asteroid’s motion in anticipation of impact risk.

If it escapes tracking, the asteroid is feared to keep moving and crash into Earth. As we know, the collision of asteroids and planets can cause various losses and even casualties. Up until now, the public is still worried about this nasty possibility.

Made 2010 XC15

Still talking about this space object, it is no less important for you to understand the various facts. Physically, asteroid 2010 XC15 is 570 feet long. The asteroid approaches Earth at a distance of 7,72,317 kilometers.

In the motion, the 2010 XC15 was revealed to have a speed of nearly 36,358 kilometers per hour. This speed is faster than the speed of hypersonic ballistic missiles.

It is no wonder that every movement of this asteroid always invites the attention of scientists to examine it further. Basically, most of the time 2010 XC15 is spent in Earth orbit. This is what causes the two space objects to always move side by side.

Monitoring with HAARP

This space rock has been successfully tracked with the help of HAARP. In tracking it, HAARP uses more than 9.6 million radio waves. Radio waves will be launched by scientists on asteroid 2010 XC15.

This step the researchers took not without purpose. Scientists whose goal is to see and study the size, shape and trajectory of asteroids. Furthermore, the researchers also aim to learn about the ionosphere.

Another goal of this monitoring is that the scientists also want to study the potential for developing ionosphere-enhancing technologies. This is nothing more than supporting radio communication for surveillance.

Asteroid 2010 XC15 was first discovered on December 5, 2010. The discovery originated from the Catalina Sky Survey with an apparent magnitude of 17.5 with a Schmidt of 0.68 meters or the equivalent of 27 inches. Since its initial discovery, this asteroid has become a concern.

In 2013, this space rock was once again the subject of discussion. Back then the 2010 XC15 created a period of uncertainty. Currently, the asteroid is no less agitating the public due to its speed of approach to the Earth.

We cannot deny that the movement of asteroid 2010 XC15 has occurred trendy at the moment. But you needn’t worry because scientists are surely doing everything they can to protect the Earth from the threat of this collision. This asteroid is also one of many near-Earth outer space objects that cannot be separated by scientists’ tracking. (R10/HR-Online)
