Burgas celebrated World Heart Day with various initiatives aimed at preventing cardiovascular diseases. Among the main participants in the event was the “Young Doctors” Association, which actively participated for another year in organizing and conducting the campaign.
The event took place on the alley in front of the Flora Expo Center, where a mobile health center was located.
Residents and guests of the city had the opportunity to measure their blood pressure and take an electrocardiogram, both before and after physical activity. Experts from the Regional Health Inspectorate measured body fat and body mass index, providing valuable information about the health status of the participants.
Doctors from the “Young Doctors” Association offered free consultations on the prevention of cardiovascular diseases and the influence of lifestyle on health. Cardiologists, endocrinologists, pulmonologists, pediatricians and gastroenterologists informed the public about the risk factors associated with obesity, stress and unhealthy eating.
It was important to emphasize that physical activity plays an essential role in heart health.
The event included an open training session organized by Neftohimik 2010 Volleyball Club, demonstrating the importance of sports.
The campaign, implemented in partnership with the Municipality of Burgas, RZI-Burgas, Union of Paramedics, BMCHK-Burgas and University “Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov” promoted a balanced diet, reducing stress and increasing physical activity.
The reviewed data, taken from surveys, blood pressure and blood sugar measurements of over 320 consulted shows better awareness based on previous years.
Association “Young Doctors” reaffirmed its commitment to public health, actively informing the population about the importance of prevention.
This campaign is an example of successful cooperation between local authorities, medical and sports organizations aimed at improving the health of Bulgarian citizens.
