Jakarta –
Toll road entrepreneur Jusuf Hamka recounted his bad experience from a private Islamic bank. He even revealed, sharia banks crueler than conventional banks. He experienced bad experiences ranging from being difficult to pay off debts to wanting to extort Rp 20 billion.
The Indonesian Sharia Bank Association (Asbisindo) also responded to the incident. Secretary General of Asbisindo Herwin Bustaman said that related to the polemic that occurred between customers and Islamic banks, it was necessary to underline the contents of the syndicated engagement that had been agreed upon by the two.
“In the process of disbursing financing, especially large-scale syndicated financing and involving many parties, of course the parties have discussed the conditions listed in the contract, including the terms of repayment before being signed by the parties,” said Herwin in a statement received by detik.com, Friday (23/7/2021).
He said that the banking industry, including Islamic banks is an industry that is highly regulated and puts forward the principle of prudence. In addition, specifically for Islamic banks, they must comply with and comply with Sharia principles.
Asbisindo hopes that the current complaints can be resolved properly. In addition, his party requested that various parties have a good attitude regarding the issue.
“We also hope that we all continue to have good prejudice, because we do not know the details of the contract agreed upon by the customer and the related Islamic banks,” he said.
Previously it was reported that in the Outspoken program with detikcom, Jusuf Hamka recounted the unpleasant experience. Initially he wanted to immediately pay off the debts of his subsidiaries. He said that he should not be exposed to collectibility that involves a good name.
“Because, these banks are sorry, these banks are like Ustaz Yusuf Mansur said, let alone conventional banks, sharia banks are more cruel, more cruel is true, I state that sharia banks are more cruel,” said Jahja.
Why did he mention sharia banks cruel? Jusuf Hamka once asked for the interest (margin) on the debt to be lowered but it was not given, while when his party wanted to pay off the debt, they were not given a way.
