OVIEDO, 28 (EUROPA PRESS) The president of the Association of Veterinarians of Asturias, Armando Solís, has sent a request to the Asturian Government so that the anti-rabies vaccination, which is already mandatory in Asturias for dogs since this year, includes cats and ferrets .
Solís met this Wednesday with the Minister of Rural Affairs and Agrarian Policy Marcelino Marcos Líndez and the general director of Livestock, Rocío Huerta, to discuss various topics of interest to both the veterinary community and professionals in the field.
He asked the counselor for his collaboration regarding the Comprehensive Health Plan. The College is developing a computer application to facilitate the work of farmers and veterinarians. “We would like the Administration to disseminate and raise awareness among farm owners about the importance and obligation for each farm to have and comply with the Comprehensive Health Plan,” said the president of the College.
Regarding the so-called Animal Welfare Law, the president of the College discussed with those responsible for the Department the main issues of the law, especially the mandatory identification of cats and ferrets, in addition to dogs, and the mandatory sterilization of cats. before 6 months of age.
Finally, Armando Solís explained to the counselor the need to develop legislation, as determined by the current regulations on medicines, so that veterinarians can prescribe medicines for exclusively hospital use for animals, under the appropriate conditions and requirements provided for in the regulations. .
