The deaf community of Parral and Chihuahua breaks barriers to enter the art of painting through the association “Conscientemente Inclusivos”, which has more than one hundred people registered in both municipalities, and they seek to bring art to different exhibitions between both cities, the last one held this weekend in the Palacio de Alvarado. According to Zayra Lechuga, coordinator of the association, its objective is that people with hearing disabilities have the opportunity to develop in the field of art and sport, which is why it also raises awareness about them in the population.

Zayra Lechuga, coordinator of the association “Conscientemente Inclusivos”, revealed that for nine years she has been working in favor of the disabled population, specifically those who suffer from hearing impairment, turning this problem into an opportunity to exploit art and talent.
According to him, the association is based in Hidalgo del Parral and Chihuahua, places where activities are promoted in favor of the deaf population, and that through this association they are seeking to break down the barriers that society once had, bringing the talent of people to the entire civil society.
In this regard, he recalled that last weekend they held the painting exhibition “Invisibles” at the Palacio de Alvarado Cultural Center in Parral, where six people captured different figures and art in paintings, which was striking for the general population who came to the place to see them.
In this way, Zayra Lechuga commented that little by little spaces are opening up for the hearing impaired population and that this is a barrier that must be broken, highlighting that with activities of this nature progress is being made in terms of inclusion. In addition, she added that they have been offering their services to the population of Chihuahua and Parral for nine years, however, their association was legally created a year ago.
“We have around 150 people registered who collaborate in different activities, including children, adults and young people, in Chihuahua and Parral (…), we were very excited by Parral’s response because we did not imagine that we would have so much support, since it is difficult to attract attention with art and even more so with a disability,” revealed the interviewee, who added that they will seek to manage support for the members because sometimes they do not have the resources to buy the supplies.
Finally, the interviewee said that the exhibition “Invisibles” reflects the talent, inspiration and creativity of the deaf people who made these paintings, and that with them they seek to break barriers and be public, which is why they invited the community in general to see the works at the Alvarado Palace throughout the week.
Finally, Zayra Lechuda said that in September, Sign Language Day is celebrated, and she added that they are organizing events related to the day, which will be held in Parral and Chihuahua.
