A drop of nearly 50% in blood donations was noted during the collection which recently took place at the Aragon home.
The ESF (French Blood Establishment) expected around 70 donors on the basis of its forecasts. Only 36 donors presented themselves, 34 were collected including 5 new ones.
“I would like to warmly thank the people who came, but the result is very disappointing and even catastrophic” comments Josiane Drouot, secretary of the 3 Vallées association. “Did the donors voluntarily confine themselves to one week before Christmas Eve? Did the change of room due to the holding of the municipal council play an important role? Probably a bit of both. The collection took place in the smaller space offered by the Hermitage room. The medical team as well as the volunteers did their best for the well-being of the donors despite the lack of space.
A reason for hope in this gloomy picture, the arrival of a few young people including Julia, aged 20, a student, who since she was 18 has been giving blood four times a year.
The next collection will take place in Frouard on Tuesday February 16.
