He also informed that, in compliance with Section 1042 and Section 1043 of the Latvian Civil Law and Section 3 of the Subsoil Law, 160 property owners have signed a ban on building a Rail Baltic tunnel under their property.
The association plans to submit these signatures to the Minister of Transport Anrijs Matīs (V) and Riga Deputy Mayor Andris Amerikas (GKR) at the meeting scheduled for September 15, who have confirmed to the association that they will attend the meeting.
As reported, the association “Āgenskalns – our houses” plans to hold a general meeting of residents in September to discuss the progress of the project.

In the comments, some residents do not understand the activities of the head of the association Ēriks Pūle, emphasizing that currently little is known about the development of the Rail Baltica project to judge the possible dangers and risks of the planned solution, and the decision to build an underground tunnel has not yet been officially made. In some comments, citizens associate the Effort activities with possible political interests.
The Rail Baltica project envisages the construction of a new 1435 millimeter or European standard gauge railway line in the Baltic States to connect the metropolises Tallinn, Riga, Kaunas, Warsaw and Berlin with fast and environmentally friendly rail transport traffic.
In the first round of the Rail Baltica project, Brussels has allocated 238 million euros to Latvia, mostly for the construction of the railway section from Riga Central Station to the airport, Edvīns Birch. A total of 442.2 million euros or 81.83% co-financing has been allocated to this project for the three Baltic States until 2020.
