Associated municipality of Auxerre, Vaux aspires to get out of its lethargy

Water has flowed under the Pont de Vaux since the summer of 2020 and the arrival of a new majority at the town hall of Auxerre. Attached to the city prefecture almost half a century ago (1972), the associated municipality and its 700 inhabitants have a new deputy mayor, Margaux Grandrue. A new advisory commission also, chaired by the latter and composed of five members, as planned in the associated municipalities of 500 to 2,000 inhabitants. Problem, “she never met”, deplore two of them.

“Things to do to re-create links”

“The deputy mayor had created a Whatsapp group last October, but we never had any exchanges between us,” regrets Christophe Syda, who has lived in Vaux since 2006. “I joined the committee to get involved in the village life. With this health crisis, it would be necessary to put things in place to recreate links with the inhabitants and the associative world “, estimates the one who appeared in 2020 on the list of the former mayor Guy Férez.

“Without a political label”, Édouard Lespesme – who lives in Montholon but is a winegrower in Vaux – also regrets this status quo: “The deputy mayor contacted me at the start of the school year and I joined this commission with the idea of seeing how we could develop the village, strengthen its attractiveness, in terms of facilities, tourism … And then in an associated municipality, it is important to raise the complaints of the inhabitants when decisions are taken in Auxerre. meeting was scheduled for the fall, but it did not take place. Why? I admit that I did not try to find out too much … But it’s a shame. “

Like him, Christophe Syda admits “not having solicited the deputy mayor” following this false start of the fall. But is more generally surprised by the “absence” of the chosen one. “Even by mail, she never showed up, whereas we often saw the former deputy mayor, Philippe Aussavy”, he continues, regretting in passing that “the Vaux newsletter no longer appears”, with the commission being put to sleep.

Contacted, Margaux Grandrue did not wish to react, signaling nevertheless that she makes herself “available to all residents on Friday afternoons, in town hall”. Assistant in charge of communication at the City of Auxerre, Emmanuelle Miredin, for her part, provides some explanations. Regarding the newsletter, “it is a choice of communication. We are no longer in the era of“ all paper ”, we prefer to concentrate the information in Auxerrois Magazine, which concerns the entire city.” The discretion of the mayor delegate? “We can argue, but she is on duty and created this group. After that, if people do not come forward … She is young, works and comes behind an elected official (editor’s note: Philippe Aussavy) who knew everyone. This is not obvious…”

“We feel a little lonely …”

Still, many residents deplore a certain stagnation. “The Covid complicates things, but that does not explain everything … We have no contact with the deputy mayor and we feel a little lonely, when we had to stop a lot of activities”, confides Bianca Gout, secretary of the Foyer de Vaux which has “about 150 members” and has been living there since 1973. Same frustration in the mouth of Ase, who would like to see “the problems of parking” progress and also regrets “the absence of shops, meeting places apart from the Foyer de Vaux “. “Here, we are both close to Auxerre and isolated. Vaux is a bit of a dormitory …”

“The Covid played a big role, but we have no contact with the deputy mayor and I do not know the members of the committee any more. I was part of it in the past and we took care of the events, we made up the problems at the town hall of Auxerre. It is not normal that it never meets “, launches Serge, in front of his birthplace on the edge of the Yonne.
