Assoc. Prof. Kunchev: We are bringing Russia into the red zone, a new wave of COVID-19 is not exaggerated

“The prognosis for a new wave of coronavirus is not exaggerated. It all depends on how things develop around us and how we behave. There are definitely facts that worry us – the continuing spread of the Delta variant of the coronavirus. ” This was stated to Nova TV by the Chief State Health Inspector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Angel Kunchev.

He said they were closely monitoring the situation and would impose measures if necessary – those countries where the virus is spread to fall into the red zone.

“If things go that way, I will probably ask for Russia’s inclusion in the red zone as well. People from the countries in this zone cannot enter Bulgaria. This, of course, does not apply to Bulgarian citizens returning from these countries. I know how difficult it will be to adopt such a restrictive measure in view of the fact that everyone expected a normal tourist season, but still the most important thing is to protect the country from additional imports of the new version of the coronavirus, “added Angel Kunchev.

“Portugal has reached a difficult situation because of many infected people who came from Brazil. Finland will be in a difficult situation because it brought in 500 infected people who were at a match in St. Petersburg,” said Angel Kunchev.

There are new rules for entering Bulgaria as of today. Countries around the world will be divided into red, orange and green zones, depending on the number of COVID-19 patients. People coming from countries in the green zone will enter Bulgaria under the easiest regime. Additional tests will be performed on those arriving from the orange zone, and those from the red zone will not be allowed in our country. The list will be updated every week.
