Why did a 26-year-old Vernolitan, from an honorable family and without a criminal record, die of four bullets in the body, on the side of a road?
This is one of the questions to which the jurors of the Assize Court of Eure-et-Loir, which meets from this Tuesday, October 12 afternoon, at the Chartres court, will have to answer.
Recall of facts
A little before 7 a.m., on December 27, 2017, the gendarmes were called in for a traffic accident, on the departmental road 135, which connects Boissy-en-Drouais to Saint-Rémy-sur-Avre.
Near a partly charred car, Mehdi Zihoune’s body lies on the side of the road. He was shot four times in the body.
Investigation
According to the investigation, the murder is linked to a transaction in cannabis resin. Also according to the investigation, with four of his friends, the young man was to give 60 kg to buyers from the Paris region.
One of them, Lofti Bouzid, 27, would have preferred to keep the money and pay the Vernolitain four bullets to the body. He will be tried for murder. At his side, his alleged accomplice, Aliba Traore, also 27, will be tried for theft with a weapon.
The trial of the two men will last five days. The verdict should be delivered Monday, October 18 in the evening.
A stab in the changing rooms of the Delarue stadium
Two other cases will be judged by the Assize Court next week.
Tuesday 19 and Wednesday 20 October, Ahy Arnaud Kegba, a 42-year-old Lucéen, will be tried for attempted murder. On June 22, 2019, he allegedly stabbed another man in the changing rooms of the James-Delarue stadium in Chartres. The victim was holding her three-year-old daughter in her arms. The girl would also have been slightly affected (see our edition of June 24, 2019).
Thursday October 21 and Friday October 22, Didier Capron, an inhabitant of Molleans, aged 61, will be tried for having killed his partner with a knife, on the night of October 20 to 21, 2017. The drama took place while he was under the influence alcohol.
