Assisted reproduction the option for 26 million Mexicans

Mexico City, June 11, 2021.- Around 8 million human beings have been born in the world with the help of some assisted reproduction technique, which is why fertility techniques have been developed for 50 years to help couples conceive.

Dr. Héctor Godoy Morales, director of the ART Fertility and Reproductive Surgery Clinic and head of the Reproductive Medicine Unit at Hospital Ángeles del Pedregal is a pioneer in the application of these techniques in Mexico and says that there is a rate of 45% of success when an appropriate treatment is carried out.

Some of the procedures can range from artificial insemination or sperm training, to highly specialized procedures such as In Vitro fertilization or egg vitrification.

The boom in the application of these techniques has made the market grow significantly, so this year it has a value of 121 million pesos.

The World Health Organization has defined infertility as the absence of pregnancy in couples between 20 and 30 years of age after one year of trying and in women over 30 years after six months.

According to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography, there are 26.6 million married or common-law couples in our country and 15% of them have problems having children.
