Constantine Hatzidakis highlighted after being recorded elbowing a defender Liverpool, Andy Robertson, last weekend. The assistant referee from England escaped FA sanctions.
Reported by Reuters, Hatzidakis will not be subject to disciplinary action from the FA, after being caught on camera elbowing Roberton in the Liverpool vs Arsenal match at Anfield last weekend.
“We have thoroughly reviewed all evidence in relation to the recent incident at Anfield, involving Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson and match official Constantine Hatzidakis, and we will be taking no further action,” the FA said in a statement.
“Our comprehensive process involves reviewing detailed statements from Liverpool and PGMOL, as well as various angles of video footage, in relation to the incident and the circumstances surrounding it,” the FA continued.
In his statement to the PGMOL or British Professional Refereeing Body, Constantine Hatzidakis claimed to have cooperated with the FA during the investigation. Hatzidakis, who is also being parked until the investigation is complete, has also apologized to Andy Robertson personally.
“I look forward to returning to referee games,” Hatzidakis said in a statement issued by Professional Game Match Officials Ltd (PGMOL).
“I am fully assisting the FA in their investigation, and have discussed this matter directly with Andy Robertson in an open and positive conversation.”
“Of course it was not my intention to come into contact with Andy when I pulled my arm away from him. For that I have apologised,” he said.
This incident was seen during halftime of the Liverpool vs Arsenal match in the Premier League continuation at Anfield, Sunday (9/4/2023). At that time, the score was 2-0 in favor of the visitors.
