Assistant pharmacists protested in Burgas – they want legislative changes that would allow them to exercise their profession legitimately.

According to the protesters, their diplomas are currently not recognized, as by law they do not have the right to dispense medication according to a doctor’s prescription, which is part of their professional qualification.

“We have the necessary qualifications, but the law is written in such a way that it does not allow us to dispense anything independently,” said Stanka Markova, vice-president of the Association of Assistant Pharmacists.

Assistant pharmacists complain that they often have to hide in the event of an inspection by the regulatory authorities, the RHI or the Medicines Executive Agency, because in practice they do not comply with the law.

“During such an inspection by the control authorities, we must be hidden somewhere, because we do not have the right to carry out green prescriptions, prescriptions from the Health Insurance Fund, according to a doctor’s prescription,” explained Svetla Hristova, Regional College of Assistant Pharmacists – Yambol.

“In fact, these are the things we do every day at work, but illegally. By law, we can only sell nutritional supplements, cosmetics”, added Dimitrina Petrova, president of the Regional College of Assistant Pharmacists – Burgas.
