“Assessing Adam Karabec’s Performance at Sparta: Has He Lived Up to Expectations?”

Karabec started in Sparta in 2020, when he was sixteen years old. He made his debut in a match with Sigma Olomouc. In the 2021/22 season, he took to the pitch in thirty league matches. The expectations that the management and the fans put in him, but he has not fulfilled much yet. Under the new coach Brian Prisk in the current year, he started regularly at the beginning, but over time, he was relegated not only outside the starting eleven.

Blažek feels that the offensive midfielder is not using his potential in Sparta to the full. “I think there’s more to him than what he shows. The question is why he won’t show it,” ponders the bronze medalist from EURO 2004. “The guys in Sparta are too comfortable. Maybe it would help Karabac to make his life a little more complicated,” smiles the foxy owner of six league titles with Letenský.

Čvančara, who did not start Saturday’s match due to health reasons, is the fifth best scorer in the league and a big support. Together with Jan Kuchta, they form a striking attacking duo in the spring part of the season. “I guess they got used to each other, the coach started putting them forward. In addition, Čvančara is a bit of a badass by nature and can tear down the team. He was missing in Slovakia,” Blažek assesses.

The editor of the Sport.cz website Jiří Lizec agrees with this: “Čvančara is doing a great job in the so-called attacking trident, in which he is complemented by Kuchta and Lukáš Haraslín. Sparta lacked ferocity and finishing, we saw that they didn’t convert their goals.” Adam Karabec did not want to comment in detail yet, because the role of players with little playing time is difficult and a larger sample of duels is needed for evaluation.
