Assemblywoman Lorena González recovers at home after double mastectomy – Telemundo San Diego (20)

SAN DIEGO – Assemblywoman Lorena González announced on Twitter that she returned home after undergoing a bilateral mastectomy and that “there is no cancer left.”

González, a Democrat from San Diego, described herself as “exhausted and in pain” and “hopeful.” She tweeted that she was “eternally grateful to the best husband / caregiver in the world who has not left my side,” she said referring to the president of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors, Nathan Fletcher.

Gonzalez underwent the surgery Saturday “and the doctors said it was perfect,” Fletcher tweeted.

González announced on August 7 that she was diagnosed with breast cancer, which Fletcher described as stage 0, but that she was “also aggressive and positive for hormones” and needed “aggressive treatment” because her mother developed breast cancer at age 44. and died at 62 years of age.
