H. Matamoros Tamaulipas.- The National Chamber of Commerce (Canaco) in Matamoros held its ordinary annual meeting this Thursday for the renewal of its board of directors, in which the CP José Joel Gómez Velasco was re-elected for a third term as president and the Eng. Julio Alberto Avila Coronado as Secretary.
The President of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of Tamaulipas (FECANACO) Julio César Almanza Armas attended as a special guest; who offered the support and endorsement of the Federation of chambers to the new directive to work on projects of common interest for the welfare and economic development of Matamoros and Tamaulipas.
In this new facet, Gómez Velasco spoke of his goals and objectives as president of Matamoros organized commerce for 2023 and endorsed his desire to work harmoniously with all the active forces and authorities for the social and economic good of the city.
They came; to the event former Presidents of CANACO; merchants, businessmen and interesting members of the council and committee; where he realized the 123 years of life of the Matamoros Chamber of Commerce;
Within the framework of the Assembly, recognition was given to the oldest business registered by the Chamber of Commerce started by Mr. Andres Cardenas (QEPD) and currently owned by his grandson Don Gustavo Cardenas Garza and his company Ferretería el Caracol that opened its doors on August 1, 1926.
Also present were the descendants of Mr. Baldomero Urtusastegui, founder of the Matamoros Chamber of Commerce; represented by Mr. Carlos Urtusastegui Torteya; and Mrs. Beatriz Loza Urtusastegui; to whom the historical writings signed by Baldomero Urtusastegui and Melitón Cross were solemnly delivered; with an age of 123 years.
Present at the Assembly were the Former Presidents Yadala Charur Muñoz; Roberto Salas Martinez; Abel Moron Guzman and Julio Cesar Almanza Armas.
