Assembly authority prohibits large lateral thinkers demonstration on the weekend
–
Dresden – The regulatory office as the assembly authority of the state capital Dresden has for the coming Saturday, December 12th, 2020, the planned demonstration of the initiative “lateral thinking351” on the Cockerwiese with reference to the high number of participants to be expected and the danger to public safety in Dresden against the background of Pandemiesituation forbidden.

This also affects all alternative events this weekend. The initiative “lateral thinking351” is a local offshoot of the nationwide initiative lateral thinking.
Meetings of the initiatives had already taken place several times in Berlin, on October 31 in Dresden, on November 7 in Leipzig and on November 28, 2020 in Frankfurt (Oder).
In a prognosis in agreement with the Dresden Police Department, the Ordnungsamt assumes that, in the event that the meeting is held, a significantly higher number of participants than the originally planned 4,000 participants would have to be expected, especially after large-scale meetings in other large cities have also been banned in the past two weeks .

The experiences of the past demonstrations showed that the lateral thinkers neither kept distance requirements nor observed the mask requirement. All official requirements or police requests are completely ignored. In order to prevent a superspreader event with serious consequences for many people, including those who are not involved, the ban on gathering for the planned event is the only option. There is no milder means.
In its most recent decision of December 5, 2020 (Az. 1 BvQ 145/20), the Federal Constitutional Court confirmed that it would not be appropriate to impose a protection and hygiene concept on the organizer if compliance is ultimately not to be expected. The ban is flanked by a further general decree, which forbids all gatherings on December 12, 2020 that have not been reported to the assembly authority of the state capital of Dresden by December 9, 2020, midnight.
The aim is to counter possible attempts by the lateral thinker scene to circumvent the ban through spontaneous meetings, as these can also pose a significant health risk to the population. The authority, together with the Dresden Police Department and the health department, is only in a position to check meeting notices with sufficient lead time with regard to their feasibility under infection protection law.
There are currently seven counter-demonstrations registered by organizations, alliances and private individuals, which are spread over the entire inner city area of Dresden.
