Assembly approved law to make transition to municipal restructuring transparent – ​​Diario La Página – 2024-04-25 02:27:47

The Legislative Assembly approved in the plenary session this Monday the Special Transition Law for Municipal Restructuring, which seeks to make an orderly, transparent transition with enough time so that the transfer of the current 262 municipalities to the new 44 municipalities does not affect the services provided to the population.

The law emphasizes that the current municipalities will be provided with the legal tools to make efficient use of economic resources for the benefit of the inhabitants; In addition, two years are given to put the accounting in order and up to date in each of the current ones.

Parliamentarian José Urbina, elected mayor of San Salvador Oeste (Apopa and Nejapa) highlighted that the new law seeks to establish a transition period of up to a maximum of two years in the face of the new municipal governments, a period during which the transition must give in a “fluid, orderly and efficient” manner.

For his part, Congressman Jorge Castro, who is the elected mayor of the new Santa Ana Oeste municipality, indicated that what is intended is to make municipal governments more functional for the benefit of the Salvadoran people.

For her part, legislator Marcela Pineda, elected mayor of La Paz Este, explained that services will continue to be provided as normal, that there will be no changes to schedules and that efforts will be made to optimize resources.
