There’s a new Assassin’s Creed spin-off on the market. ‘Another one’ we hear you shout now. Yes, another one. But one with a hefty twist. This is a virtual reality game. Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR is a, and the title says it all, VR action adventure that is suitable for the Meta Quest 3, Meta Quest Pro and Meta Quest 2 headsets. It is the first VR game in the Assassin’s Creed series and so it made VR enthusiasts Jasper and Koos curious. And in itself, the Assassin’s franchise has everything to make a great VR game. Whose dream isn’t it to wander around ancient Rome, Athens or Paris? The two started working on their own headsets (Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 2) and talk about their experiences in the studio. This is the Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR review.
Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR review: Does this make the world even more alive?
The story behind this game in brief. An unnamed hacker is hired by assassins Rebecca Crane and Shaun Hastings to infiltrate an Abstergo project called “Nexus Eye”. The project, led by Dominika Wilk, consists of finding and acquiring the code from fragments of an Isu machine. This code, once combined with the Animus, will create a computer capable of predicting and influencing an individual’s behavior. The necessary fragments can be found in the memories of three Assassins: Ezio Auditore, Kassandra and Connor Kenway. Rebecca and Shaun instruct the hacker to plant explosive thoughts in the memories to destroy them and prevent Abstergo from finding the fragments.
