Assassin’s Creed Mirage: No Complex Subscription Model or Loot Boxes, Ubisoft Confirms

Ubisoft liked to show and remind that Assassin’s Creed Mirage is a return to the roots of the series, and thanks to trailers and gameplay, it was able to convince most fans of this. So we are expecting a shorter and more complete experience without giant maps and grind, while the setting and depiction of the assassins themselves evokes the good old days. However, he has appeared in recent days rating of the German agency USK. There, the game was rated 16+ due to violence, which is nothing surprising or new for the rating of the series in Germany, but the presence of in-game purchases was surprising to players, and therefore microtransactions began to be addressed.

The USK rating generally describes the possibility of in-game purchases in the style of “These are often small additional items that add variety to gameplay, such as ‘bonus levels’, ‘skins’, virtual coins and other forms of in-game currency, subscriptions and upgrades (e.g. turning off advertising) “. Of course, this didn’t necessarily mean Mirage would cover all of these points, but it was enough to worry some players. After all, just remember the confusion about “gambling” when an ESRB rating, which did not even exist at the time, accidentally appeared in pre-orders less than a year ago. At the time, Ubisoft explained that this was a mistake and that there would be no gambling or loot boxes in the game. Now Ubisoft itself has again commented on the current issue, assuring the players that it will not be, for example, any complex subscription model.

Microtransactions were widely discussed, for example, on the official Assassin’s Creed discord server, where Ubi.Waldo from Ubisoft set out to clarify the rating in Germany. “The game has no special subscription model and no form of advertising other than traditional in-game news that offers information about Assassin’s Creed Mirage and the Assassin’s Creed series,” he said. However, he mentioned that it will still be possible to purchase cosmetic packs, but they are completely optional. Plus, they plan to share more in the coming weeks. After all, Mirage is slowly but surely approaching, so we can generally expect a lot of news and other information.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage launches on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series on October 12, 2023.
