Assassin’s Creed Mirage: Behind-the-Scenes Look at Game Mechanics and Features

The first behind-the-scenes episode about the making of Assassin’s Creed Mirage has hit the web ahead of time. In the video, the Mirage developers talked about Basim’s origins and how he “deserved” his own game after his supporting role in Valhalla, but the video touched on some technical topics.

Broken into chapters, the first element discussed in the video is the brand new parkour mechanic introduced in Assassin’s Creed Mirage. It has been emphasized that Basim is much more agile than some of the “modern” Assassins such as Eivor, making the parkour feel more fluid and fast-paced.

A new stealth mechanic was also introduced, featuring never-before-seen kill animations that look quite brutal, and nods to classic Assassin’s Creed games in the form of scene-focused kills. Luckily, the developers have stated that the AI has been improved when it comes to stealth mechanics, ultimately making it more realistic – which has been a sticking point in the franchise for a long time.

While exploring Baghdad, players will stumble across various hubs that exist to fulfill contracts that players can take on as they see fit, working with factions and allies to rid the city of malevolent criminals. It’s a timeless game and it seems like Ubisoft has taken care to make it an exact recreation of what came before. In the video, one of the developers says:

We wanted to go back to where it all began and pay homage to the origins of Assassin’s Creed.”

In conclusion, the developers talked about a new visual filter that will make the game more like the classic Assassin’s Creed games than ever before.

Mirage enters the market on October 12, 2023.
