Ubisoft has made it abundantly clear that Assassin’s Creed is their current favorite franchise. We already know that Assassin’s Creed Mirage is coming in October, before Assassin’s Creed Codename Red, Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade, Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe and Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR await on the horizon. We even get to return to a beloved setting if all goes according to plan.
Boxus Ethan Gach has heard from two sources that Ubisoft is working on a remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. It’s the one with Edward Kenway and a heavy focus on sea battles and exploration if you don’t remember. I can confirm this to some extent, but my sources tell me that the project is in such an early stage that they haven’t decided whether it will be a pure remake or just “extremely inspired” by Black Flag yet.
One thing that’s important to note before you celebrate loudly is that Ubisoft Singapore, the same studio that makes Skull and Bones these days, will be one of the main studios making it. It’s quite appropriate considering that the development of the upcoming game started because many people love the naval aspect of Black Flag, but the production of Skull and Bones has not exactly gone smoothly.
Regardless, it’s still years until the new Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag sees the light of day – if at all – so why not share your thoughts on what this “remake” should change, improve and not touch in the comments section.
