Assassin’s Creed: Codename Red – Release Date, Characters, and Gameplay Revealed in Insider Gaming Magazine Article

We’ve already learned quite a bit about the upcoming game Assassin’s Creed: Codename Red from official and unofficial sources. We regularly update you on all the news, and now insider Tom Henderson is back with a fresh dose in a magazine article Insider Gamingwhich summarizes everything essential.

We can start, for example, with a probable release date. Henderson claims the game could arrive by Christmas 2024. In one breath, he warns that Ubisoft is known for delays, so we shouldn’t take it for granted, but the title is said to be fully playable now, and Henderson expects more official details early next year.

He continues to focus on characters, which is a topic he has repeatedly touched on in the past. Players are supposed to have two playable heroes at their disposal. According to the latest version, the first is a male samurai and the second is a female shinobi, or ninja. Both characters are atypical because the samurai is supposed to be an African refugee. Some fans believe that he is supposed to be inspired by a real historical figure named Jasuke. He was supposed to be the first African samurai in the 16th century.

Inspired by the Splinter Cell series

Henderson doesn’t know if the female ninja hero has any real role model, but he thinks she should be more agile than a samurai. Each of the characters should also have completely different abilities and weapons to give a completely unique impression.

Stealth is supposed to play an important role in the Japanese Assassin, and the authors are said to have borrowed some elements from the Splinter Cell series. We will be able to hide in the shadows or extinguish the torches. According to Henderson, hiding eliminated enemies is a matter of course.

A destructible environment that should allow you to break what you would expect to be able to break in the real world sounds tempting. You can, for example, go through a door like in Ghost of Tsushima.

Until now, Ubisoft has enough experience

We previously wrote that Ubisoft refers to the game as the third chapter in the brand’s history. It will be a change in the field of gameplay and technology and a full transition to the new console. One of the changes is supposed to be an even more dynamic world that is supposed to develop around the player. The title should be more realistic and more complex thanks to the animations and environment.

Ubisoft teases that Red will be supported for many years after release with additional expansions. As for why Ubisoft is only now taking players to the Japan that fans have been clamoring for for so many years, producer Marc-Alexis Côté believes that they only now have enough experience to handle this challenging subject. They say they wanted to go to Japan before, but only now are they sure that they can capture the culture, which is so different. Now they reportedly have everything to live up to the high expectations of the fans.

The game is heading to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series. It is primarily worked on by the Ubisoft Québec studio. In contrast to Mirage, the concept will be a return to the format of large action RPGs.
