Assassination Plan against Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky

KYIV, KOMPAS.com – As Russian military forces approach the heart of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky realized he was only counting the days.

In a video conference this week with European leaders, President Zelensky has even said goodbye.

“This may be the last time you will see me alive,” he said, as quoted by a source to the media Wall Street Journal.

It seemed that President Zelensky had good reason to believe that his life was in danger.

Information has emerged from Western intelligence agencies about Russia’s plans to assassinate the Ukrainian president. Then President Zelensky disseminated this information to his people in a video.

“Our enemies have marked me as target number one. My family as target number two,” President Zelensky said.

“They want to destroy Ukraine politically by destroying its head of state,” he added.

Despite the threats, President Zelensky reportedly rejected an offer from the United States Government to assist with the evacuation. He vowed to stay with his people.

His wife, Olena Zelenska, their 17-year-old daughter, Sasha, and their nine-year-old son, Kyrylo, are also staying in Ukraine, even though they may be second on Russia’s list of targets.

“I will not panic and cry,” wrote Olena Zelenska, wife of President Zelensky in a post on Instagram shortly after the invasion.
