Malcolm X’s family is suing the FBI, the CIA and the New York police for facilitating his assassination. According to them, federal and New York government agencies hid evidence that they were aware of the assassination plan aimed at Malcolm X. Therefore, they did nothing to prevent his death.
“We believe they all conspired to assassinate Malcolm X, one of the greatest thought leaders of the 20th century…the government’s fingerprints are everywhere”said Ben Crump, a civil rights attorney representing the family, at a press conference. “I am grateful, on behalf of my five siblings, to stand here with a group of competent and ethical experts, legal experts, as we demand justice for our father’s murder and for the truth to be recorded in history. “Ilyasah Shabazz announced for his role.

Contacted by Reuters, the FBI and the CIA declined to respond to this complaint. The New York Police Department previously said it would not comment on the lawsuit when it was announced in February 2023.
Two men freed
There are many gray areas surrounding the death of Malcolm X. In 1964, a year before he was assassinated, he left the Nation of Islam group, a black nationalist group of which he was one of the speakers. He then explained some of his previous views on racial segregation. He was then threatened with death by members of his previous movement.
Then at the age of 39, Malcolm was attended by his wife, Betty Shabazz, and children. Mujahid Abdul Halim, also known as Talmadge Hayer and Thomas Hagan, confessed to shooting Malcolm X. He was sentenced to life in 1966, he was released from prison in 2010.
His two co-defendants, Muhammad Aziz and Khalil Islam, were also convicted in 1966 and spent between them 42 years behind bars, before its release in 2021 . Muhammad Aziz, who was released in 1985, and Khalil Islam, who was released in 1987 and died in 2009 at the age of 74, have always maintained their innocence. The State and City of New York announced in 2022 a payment of $36 million divided equally between Muhammad Aziz and the heirs of Khalil Islam, to compensate them.
