The Tasnim Group, which is affiliated with Iran‘s Revolutionary Guard, announced that a representative of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was subjected to an assassination attempt on Friday, while the reasons are still unknown.

The Iranian Tasnim Group said that the cleric Muhammad Sabahi, one of the representatives of the Iranian leader in Fars Province, was injured by a gunshot in the head area, after an attack by an unknown person.

The group said an official at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences said Sabahi was taken to hospital and was in a serious condition.

ISNA news agency reported that Sabahi is undergoing surgery at a hospital in the city of Kazerun.

According to what was reported by “Tasnim”, Sabahi was subjected to an assassination attempt after Friday prayers in Karzon, while the killer was immediately neutralized.

She pointed out that he has no connection to the veterans, amid conflicting reports about his identity and motives.

A spokesperson for the Director General’s Office Policy Council said: We ask people not to pay attention to unfounded rumors about an assassination attempt on Sabahi.
