Assailant in Plovdiv splashes acid on fortune teller after offering assistance

In the last 5 years, there has been no such act in our country, said the prosecutor’s office

42-year-old, criminally convicted and convicted of stealing a jeep, is the physical attacker of fortune teller Toni from Plovdiv. He and his 51-year-old accomplice arrived in a jeep from Vratsa. One remained in the car, and the younger one, disguised, went up to the fortune teller’s apartment.

“He knew where he lived and as soon as he entered, the woman asked him: “How can I help you?”. He answered: “I will help you” and threw the acid in her face,” described district prosecutor Petar Petrov.

Tony has a battered face, neck, chest, left arm and leg. “The woman’s condition is improving, she has been taken out of intensive care. She has chemical burns from sulfuric acid and 12% of her skin is affected,” added Petrov.

The perpetrator took another route, reached the car, where his accomplice was waiting for him, and the two drove off to Vratsa.

We are working on different versions, but many more details are yet to be established, which we will not reveal, said the prosecutor.

The 42-year-old assailant committed the crime during the probationary period of his suspended sentence, which is for car theft. He and his accomplice were charged with causing moderate bodily harm and the law provides for up to 6 years in prison.

“These are definitely the real perpetrators,” Petrov said. And he added that they have collected conclusive evidence.

The head of the police in Plovdiv, Vasil Kostadinov, explained that a significant resource was thrown for the quick detection of the perpetrators. They were detained late last night in Vratsa. Their detention is due to be extended to 72 hours today, and then the supervising prosecutor will consider whether to request the most severe measure.

The two were extremely well prepared, they followed a preliminary plan.

“In the last 5 years in Bulgaria there has been no case of pouring acid”, recalled the deputy district prosecutor of Plovdiv Atanas Iliev.
