Asocajas warns of risk for millions of patients • La Nación

The Compensation Funds that participate in the health system called to resolve the structural problems “that put the lives of millions of patients and users at risk” in Colombia.

Yesterday, through a press release, they indicated that they have been present in the Colombian Health System for decades, even before Law 100, providing health services to the Colombian population, “this is how we managed to ensure 42% of the population Colombian, 9.5 million people in the Contributory Regime and 11.3 million people in the Subsidized Regime,” he highlighted.

They recalled that, precisely in 2008, at the request of the National Government, 6 Family Compensation Funds (Cafam, Colsubsidio, Compensar, Comfenalco Antioquia, Comfenalco Valle and Comfandi) came to the economic and administrative rescue of the public EPS of the Insurance Institute Social Funds, which suffered from serious economic problems and severe quality failures in the service, and based on a successful public-private model, with a participation of 50% plus 1 share, the Savings Banks responsibly assumed their operation under the name of Nueva EPS , an entity that, thanks to adequate corporate governance, today has 10.9 million members and 100% coverage in the national territory with a presence in 1,117 municipalities.

This background, coupled with the request for total and voluntary withdrawal before the National Health Superintendency by the Compensar EPS program, leads Asocajas to “express its solidarity and support for its affiliated savings banks, as well as to point out that quick solutions are urgently needed. and effective, that lead to resolving the undeniable definancing of the System, aggravated by recent administrative decisions, as well as other structural problems that do not allow postponement,” he pointed out.
