ASNL Club Survives with Over 20 Million Euros: DNCG Reinstates Club in N2 French Football

The club’s majority shareholders, Krishen Sud and Chien Lee, did not come from the United States empty-handed on Tuesday. They brought the necessary money for the DNCG to reintegrate the ASNL in N2 and validate the budget in National in the event of a repechage.

This Tuesday, July 11 will be a milestone in the long history of ASNL because the club, very close to disappearing as such after the administrative demotion to N3 pronounced by the DNCG in the first instance on June 27, has already won the right to survive, by succeeding in his appeal to the financial policeman of French football.

In the middle of the afternoon, the DNCG appeal committee reinstated the thistle club in N2, the fourth level of French football joined following sports relegation, at the end of the last championship.

Already more than 20 M€ spent since the takeover of the club

On June 27, the shareholders had completely missed the meeting, both literally and figuratively: on the one hand by not putting a penny in the ASNL accounts before the hearing, on the other hand by not not even taking care to travel to Paris to represent the club.

They didn’t make those same mistakes twice, knowing it was a no-net date, on appeal, a real double or nothing. Krishen Sud was there this time, as was Chien Lee. And they didn’t come empty-handed, they made the long-awaited bank transfer.

According to one of our sources at the FFF, they have released nearly 5 million euros, enough to raise the bill beyond 20 million since they bought the club from Jacques Rousselot in December. 2020. To be fair, since we have often pointed out the delusional management of the American owners until then, we must also underline, today, the decisive role played by Krishen Sud and Chien Lee to save the ASNL.

Sochaux in National for the moment…

Financial efforts which could have been directly synonymous with draft in National, this Tuesday, if the Sochaux neighbor did not find himself in a catastrophic economic situation, at the origin of his demotion from L2 in National, confirmed by the appeal committee of the DNCG. At the moment T, there are already 18 clubs for the 2023-2024 third division championship, suddenly. The place vacated by Sedan, sent to R1 last week, is occupied by the Sochaliens, until the next episode of this endless soap opera.

The repechage hoped for by the ASNL seems today to depend on the future of FC Sochaux, close to filing for bankruptcy, or on the fate reserved for Annecy which still dreams of staying in L2 after its sporting relegation in very curious circumstances. , following the incidents at the start of the Bordeaux-Rodez match.

Thursday, is it over?

This promises, again, a hell of a game of musical chairs. End of the ball, this Thursday? It is not certain but it is possible because the FFF wishes to communicate the calendar of the next National championship, with the correct identity for the clubs participating in it. The ASNL has legitimate reasons to believe in it, especially since the DNCG also validated, on Tuesday, the budget it presented in the event of a National repechage.

A slightly lower budget compared to last year, of course, (from 10 to 8 million euros), but it’s priceless to be there today, after having come so close to the filing for bankruptcy and restarting in N3, or even in R1…
