ASML sells more chip machines and suffers from worldwide chip shortage | NOW

Chip machine manufacturer ASML has sold more chip machines in the past three months than in the first quarter of this year. But due to the worldwide chip shortage, the Veldhoven group cannot build chip machines as quickly as it would like, the company reports on Wednesday.

From April to June, 5.4 billion euros in turnover went into the books at ASML. That is more than the 3.5 billion euros turnover of a quarter earlier. Below the line, the company was left with 1.4 billion euros, more than double the amount at the beginning of the year.

ASML also expects lower turnover growth this year. Where the company previously thought of an increase of 20 percent, it is now 10 percent.

Due to global chip shortages, many chip manufacturers ask ASML to supply chip machines before they have been tested. Then they already go to the customer without ASML having completed production. The turnover of the new machines can then only be booked when the machines have been installed in the customer’s factory.
